1. Return of the Wedge
The wedge sandal is such a versatile shoe option taking you from luncheon with the girls to a summer date night with that special someone. A high wedge sandal is extremely stylish so we might be forgiven for thinking it a viable substitute to its rival, the traditional stiletto heel, but oh so much more comfortable! As Copelyn Bengel from the editorial team at Nylon Fashion described recently in one of their articles ’The 6 Sandal Trends to Wear for All Your Summer Plans’ (April 2022)

“The return of the wedge is among us, and it is keeping its early-2000s feel. Mid-height block wedges are in for summer, and they come in minimal silhouettes and maximal styles, from bright colours to translucent materials.”

2. Funky Flats
The ever-versatile Flat Sandal continues to be an all time favourite. In a recent Marie Claire Magazine Article entitled ‘The Biggest Summer 2022 Shoe Trends, Straight from the Runway, (April 2022), style editor Sara Holzman describes the easy flat as

“Arguably one of the most versatile summer sandal styles of 2022, flat sandals might be low to the ground, but this easy-to-wear sandal style does not fall flat in the style department. Wear them alongside maxi dresses or don them beachside”

3. Gladiator Greatness
If you consider yourself a retro style queen who relished the Gladiator style sandal of the noughties, then the 2022 Sandal Season is sure to please! In a recent fashion article in Zoe Report entitled ‘Women’s Gladiator Sandals are back for 2022’ by Erin Cunningham (March 2022), the author explains;

“This time, the criteria for what defines a ‘gladiator sandal’ is loosened: Grommets are optional, perhaps even discouraged; straps can be dainty and ultra-thin, not just thick and made of leather; they can be two-toned or feature crystal-cut appliqués versus the standard black and brown (though those are still prominent too); and the soles range from flat to flatform to kitten heels and treaded styles. There is a version for an outfit or occasion.”
